This one-of-a-kind event for Southern Illinois brings together farmers, those interested in farming, and resource organizations from across the state.
A full day of connecting with resource organizations dedicated to providing services for small to midsize farms and or those interested in farming in the southern Illinois region. Hear from two keynote speakers and get updates from Food Works of Southern Illinois while they explain everything they are doing to promote long-term farming networks that create healthy soils, healthy food, and healthy communities.

Hydroclimatologist Dr. Trent Ford is the current Illinois State Climatologist. His research interests include soil moisture, land-atmosphere interactions, and monitoring and predicting extreme climate events such as drought and heat waves. A native of Roanoke, Illinois, Ford previously was an assistant professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Resources at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He earned a bachelor’s in geography from Illinois State University before completing his master’s and PhD at Texas A&M University.
